

John Hughes is a writer and teacher, and is currently Senior Master in English and Senior Librarian at Sydney Grammar School. His books include The Idea of Home (Giramondo, 2004), which won the 2005 NSW Premier's Prize for Non-Fiction and the 2006 National Biography Award, and Someone Else: Fictional Essays (Giramondo, 2007), which won the 2008 Adelaide Festival Award for Innovation and the 2008 Queensland Premier's Steele Rudd Short Story award. Someone Else has also been listed for the inaugural Warwick Prize for Writing.
An adjunct with the Writing & Society Research Group, John is currently working on a novel called The Nostalgia of Translation, as well as a number of essays and translations of his previous works.
