PhD Research Program

The University of Western Sydney offers a PhD research program in the area of solar energy (materials and devices) and air pollution, including the following topics: 

  1. Solar Energy
        - Oxide semiconductors for solar energy conversion
        - Solar hydrogen cells
  2. Solar-driven water purification
  3. Chemical gas sensors for toxic and greenhouse gases
  4. Fuel cells 

The PhD holders in this area are expected to be in the front line in the development of solar energy-related technologies. The candidates wishing to apply for scholarships may contact Dr Leigh Sheppard (for topics 1-3) and Dr Kamali Kannangara (for topic 4).
