Professor Oscar Hauptman

Biography

Professor Hauptman specialty is management of technological innovation. His research includes management of R&D, technology based entrepreneurship, technology strategy, planning and forecasting, and the role of technology and knowledge in operations and new product development.

His PhD is from Sloan School of Management, MIT, BEng and MSc from the Technion. His academic appointments include Harvard Business School, Carleton University, and Melbourne Business School. He held visiting positions in Singapore Management University, the Technion, University of Cape Town, IMD, University of St Joseph Macau, and KIMEP Kazakhstan. He published articles in international journals, book chapters, and case studies for Harvard Business School.

He served on editorial boards of international journals, including Organization Science, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and was chair of the Technology and Innovation Management Division, Academy of Management. He was managing director of a high-technology incubator in Israel and president of several boutique consulting firms specializing in high-technology management. He conducted numerous international professional training seminars and consulting projects, including UNIDO (Thailand), National Cheng-Chi University (Taiwan), Polaroid , Intel, Port of Singapore Authority, Tata Motors, Tenix Defence Systems, International Wool Secretariat, ICI Explosives, MARDI (Malaysia), Intel and MedSim (Israel), and Schmidt Vietnam.
