Women in Engineering

About the donor:

Our aim is to provide safe, clean and reliable passenger services through our two brands, CityRail and CountryLink. CityRail passenger services cover the greater Sydney region, while CountryLink covers country and long distance passenger services within NSW.

We employ more than 14,000 people, with the majority working in 2 frontline operational groups - Service Delivery and Asset Management. Business support groups include Corporate Counsel, Finance, Human Resources, Safety and Environment, Communications and Strategy.

Our staff are committed professionals, working in a variety of roles, delivering an essential service to the community. RailCorp is offering 2 scholarship opportunities for female students studying Engineering - Civil, Electrical or Mechatronics.

This scholarship was established to accelerate the focus on Women in Engineering at RailCorp. This strategy is part of an organisation wide cultural change initiative designed to attract, engage and develop future women engineers and to ensure RailCorp continues to have the right people in the right place at the right time.

Scholarship Benefits: $15 000 per year
Recipients will also be offered:

  • Support to attend industry relevant conferences;
  • Work placement throughout the year;
  • Ongoing mentoring; and
  • The opportunity to enter the RailCorp Engineering Graduate Program

Duration: Up to two years

Course(s): Full-time Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Mechatronics or Electrical)

Eligibility to apply:

Applicants must:
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
  • be enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Engineering
  • be 3rd year students in 2009; and
  • be Female

Application and Selection:
The selection process involves an assessment of your Application (PDF, 130Kb), personal statement and online assessment to determine candidates for interview. Final selection will be based on the candidates’ successful performance throughout the selection process, and satisfactory medical, drug & alcohol and criminal checks.

Conditions:
Students must also complete the work experience component and must pass (GPA 4) all units during the semester to continue receiving the Scholarship.
