How to apply

UWS Scholarships Application Supporting Documentation

All applicants

All applicants must provide the required certified supporting documentation outlined below. Please note:

  • Applicants must provide four (4) copies of all documents requested in support of their application;
  • Each piece of supporting documentation must be a certified copy. Original documents will not be returned to the applicant;
  • Documents must be legible and easy to read;
  • All documents must NOT be stapled. Single sheets are required for photocopying purposes;
  • Faxed copies of supporting documentation will not be accepted;
  • All documentation must have your Scholarship Application Number clearly marked.

It is each student’s responsibility to provide relevant and certified supporting documentation for each question as listed below. The Scholarships Unit will not consider your application if you do not provide complete and correctly verified documentation.

All supporting documentation must be received by the UWS Scholarships Unit by 5.00 pm (AEST) 30 January.

Documentation

  • If you don't supply complete and correctly verified documentation your application will not be assessed;
  • You must send verified copies of all documents.

Photocopies

So that your application can be assessed correctly, ensure all photocopied documents that you submit are:

  • legible
  • easy to read, especially visas and stamps with dates
  • correctly verified.

Who can verify copies for you?

To have your original documents verified you can take them in person to the UWS Admissions Office of an institution. Your original documents will be copied and handed back to you. The Admissions Office will give the copies to you to submit with your application to the Scholarships Unit.

Alternatively, you can have your documents verified by someone who belongs to one of the categories listed below. The person who verifies your document/s must be contactable by telephone during normal working hours. You cannot verify your own documents, even if you belong to one of the categories listed below.

Anyone who is currently employed as:

  • an accountant - member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, or CPA Australia, or the National Institute of Accountants, or the Association of Taxation and Management Accountants or Registered Tax Agents
  • a bank manager, but not a manager of a bank travel centre
  • a credit union branch manager
  • a commissioner for declarations
  • a barrister, solicitor or patent attorney
  • a police officer in charge of a police station, or of the rank of sergeant and above
  • a postal manager
  • a principal of an Australian secondary college, high school or primary school
  • a Justice of the Peace with a registration number
  • an authorised officer at The University of Western Sydney

Copies verified by a Justice of the Peace without a registration number will NOT be accepted. To find a Justice of the Peace in your area, check the public register of JPs available online from the NSW Attorney-General's Department.

Documents not verified or not verified correctly

UWS is not permitted to process:

  • documents verified by a Justice of the Peace without a registration number
  • documents verified by an International Justice of the Peace
  • documents that are just photocopies (ie not verified)
  • documents that have not been correctly verified.

Remember!

When you apply online you will be given instructions about what documents you need to supply.

It is your responsibility to provide the necessary documentation in support of your application within seven working days of submitting you application.
