Application advice

Research Services provides administrative support to University researchers applying for research grants. For preliminary advice on your application, grant deadlines and guidelines contact Jason White. For detailed application advice, including budgets, and grant writing support contact your area’s Research Development Officer in the Office of Research Services.

Formal notification from the Pro Vice Chancellor (Research) will be sent to both successful and unsuccessful applicants. A list of previously successful applications is available at Internal Funding Outcomes.

Successful applicants should note that appropriate ethics approval must be obtained before grant funds will be released to applicants.

UWS Research Seed Grant Scheme: for early career researchers

The Research Seed Grant Scheme provides an internal source of research funding to be allocated on a competitive basis to UWS staff. The Research Seed Grant Scheme offers initial funding for the establishment of projects conducted by newer investigators, supporting individual investigators as well as small research teams. All applicants must be Early Career Researchers (ECR).

UWS Eminent Research Visitor Scheme

Closed

Eminent Visiting Research Fellowships foster and secure long term international research collaborations and intensify the research capacity of UWS’s nationally competitive research groupings. Visitors join the University for sustained periods over a designated triennium.

UWS Research Partnerships Program (Round 2)

Research Partnerships Grants develop innovative, joint research projects with partners from industry, commerce, and the public and community sectors.

UWS International Research Initiatives Scheme (Round 2)

The International Research Initiative Scheme supports short visits by researchers from overseas to UWS and short research visits by UWS staff to sites overseas to use major facilities for engagement in international project activity.

UWS Research Grant Scheme

Closed

The UWS Research Grant Scheme is designed to offer funding to staff, either individual researchers or research teams, who have a twelve month program in mind to promote their research project to the point where support from national competitive grant programs, or other major external funding schemes or sources can be realistically sought.
