The University of Western Sydney is pleased to advise that the AMC has affirmed the full accreditation status of the School of Medicine as until 31 December 2013, following the graduation of two cohorts from the program.

This outcome, the best possible for a new medical school, is a firm vote of confidence in the progress of the UWS School of Medicine.

In accordance with AMC process, the UWS School of Medicine will submit annual reports from 2009 to 2013.

The Foundation Dean Professor Neville Yeomans has congratulated staff on this achievement, and likewise acknowledged the School's appreciation of continuing support from across the University.

Welcome

Message from the Foundation Dean

Welcome to the School of Medicine, part of the College of Health and Science at the University of Western Sydney.

The UWS School of Medicine is located across Greater Western Sydney, with its main campus base at Campbelltown, Clinical Schools at Blacktown/Mt Druitt and Campbelltown/Camden hospitals and the Scientific Collaboration for Investigation of Mental Health and Adversity (SCIMHA) on the Parramatta Campus.

Our students and researchers also work in and with different General Practice and Community Organisations across the region.

We offer a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course. Our first students commenced in 2007, and will finish in late 2011 before joining the health workforce as interns in our hospitals in 2012.

The School also has and supervises research students at all levels including PhD across areas of basic and applied biomedical, translational and clinical sciences as well as in population health.

These pages, like the School itself will grow. I encourage you to revisit them to find out more about our courses, research and other events and activities.
