Student Learning Unit

Welcome to the UWS Student Learning Unit website. This website is the gateway for students wanting to attend free bridging courses and workshops run by the SLU. It is also the gateway for students and staff wanting to access online resources and to obtain information about PASS and collaborative projects.

The Student Learning Unit organises and runs a variety of programs and courses to develop students' academic literacy, mathematics and study skills, and participates in many collaborative projects with Schools and Colleges to enhance the academic achievement of UWS students. Links to these programs and services are listed below:

  • SLU Workshops
    - pre semester and semester workshops in academic literacy, mathematics, statistics, nursing maths

  • PASS
    - Peer Assisted Study Sessions - small study group sessions with senior students situated in various courses

  • Online Learning
    - resources on essays, reports, referencing, algebra, statistics, nursing maths and many more

  • Collaboration with Schools and Colleges
    - develop curricula, teaching strategies and resources which can enhance students' academic literacy and mathematical skills

  • Education Technology Program (ETP) at UWS
    - This project is a collaborative partnership between the Student Learning Unit, Teaching Development Unit, Library and IT Services. It is funded by the Higher Education Equity Program (HEEP). It aims to support UWS equity students develop skills in using UWS online services and e-learning through vUWS to enhance their first year learning experience and success at UWS.
