The planning, accreditation and review of academic courses is governed through Academic Senate. A comprehensive system of codes, policies and procedures on all aspects of teaching and learning ensures the maintenance of quality standards, and that students and staff understand their responsibilities and mutual obligations.
The overall management of academic quality is framed by the UWS Tracking and Improvement System for Learning and Teaching (TILT), which consists of a ‘nested’ series of data-gathering tools and a linked set of performance reports.
Standardised surveys and other evaluation processes provide the mechanisms for gathering the data that underpins the University’s evidence-based approach to continuous improvement.
The Office of Planning and Quality (OPQ) provides the central resource to the University community to support strategic planning and quality improvement and assurance mechanisms. The OPQ has responsibility for the management information system, and provides overall co-ordination of the University’s processes for assessing performance and identifying key areas for improvement.
The Teaching Development Unit (TDU) is an academic service unit providing a range of programs and services to enhance teaching and the conditions for learning at the University of Western Sydney.
