Thesis Topic – Australian Timber Furniture Industry – A Value Chain Approach
Professor Ross Chapman and Associate Professor Terry Sloan are supervising the PhD project that is being undertaken by Sasha Alexander. He was granted a Postgraduate Award by the Forest & Wood Products Research and Development Corporation in order to support his candidature.
The overall aim of the research project is to identify specific areas for improving the global competitiveness of the Australian Timber Furniture Industry and to examine the most promising mechanisms for collaboration within the value adding chain – Value Chain – related to this industry. The research is focusing on the barriers to and drivers for continuous innovation and productivity improvement in the Australian Timber Furniture Industry. The current condition of Australian innovation processes, programs and strategic alliances within the timber furniture global growth sector is also being researched.
