Paul was producing innovative design, paper engineering, photographic, videography, e-learning products, 3D animation, and educational documentaries for over ten years before joining the Industrial Design staff at the University of Western Sydney. With a proven track record of multinational client relations; Pixar Animation Studios, Philips, GE, Datex, Aspect Medical Systems, Funtastic and Hinkler publishing. His experiences have been varied and enabled him to have many wonderful experiences. Of mention is living/working in Philadelphia, USA for 6 years as a medical illustrator/product designer. Highlights included several projects working as a surgical cameraman, where he filmed medical surgeries for reference and integration into medical product training devices/simulations.
Paul takes pride in assisting students to illustrate their ideas effectively through the use of 3D and conceptual design. His responsibilities include industrial design course advice, lecturing/ tutoring, course development, as well as providing content creation and direction to our course.

Research interests are: form generators, deployable structures, paper mechanics, augmented reality, High Dynamic Range Imagery (HDRI), and 3D simulators. In 2004, he worked with a team to develop a Interactive 3D surgical simulation for a SBIR Government Grant from National Institutes of Health (NIH) USA.
2005-2008 "Paper Mechanic" Pixar Animation / Disney - Paramount / DreamWorks / Hasbro. "CARS", "Pirates of the Caribbean 2", "Transformers", "Wall-E". Official paper mechanic for all titles | client - Funtastic - printed in three languages (English, Portuguese, Spanish) and circulated worldwide as a children's book.
2005 "Lotto Dreamn'". SFX Supervisor - 3D modeling and animation. A short film (20mins) released in late 2006, shot on "film" and needing 3D SFX elements and effects.
2005 "Celiac Disease". Children's learning game- story, environment conceptualization, character design, 3D modeling and animation. Celiac disease is a common genetic disorder that destroys the inner lining of the small intestine, if discovered early and treated in an appropriate manner during childhood a "normal" life can be achieved.
2005 "Abbott Laboratories - Neuron". 3D Modeling and illustration. A series of illustrations were created to explain the concept of how a neuron works normally and with the effects of certain drugs.
2005 "Integra - Licox". 3D Modeling and Illustration. A series of medical illustrations were created from text excerpts and surgical photos to explain their "Brain Tissue Oxygen Monitoring System".
2004 "Moberg Research - CNS". Industrial Design, 3D modeling and illustration. Moberg is developing the CNS (Component Neuromonitoring System) a single device that collects data from most neurological monitors as well as other bedside devices. The data is synchronized, displayed, and archived on CD or DVD. Embedded multimedia steps you through a clinical or research protocol.
2004 "Aspect Medical Systems - BIS in Clinical Practice". Story development, environment conceptualization, 3D modeling, animation and editing. Aspect needed a visual way to explain the difficult concept of BIS (Bispectral Index) monitoring to their customer base, as well as educate their salespeople on their product monitors use.
2004 "Advanced Training for Intraoperative Monitoring".
SBIR Government Grant from National Institutes of Health (NIH). Interactive 3D surgical simulation, 3D Anatomical modeling, storyboarding, Flash and HTML programming.
2003 "Datex - Introducing Entropy". 3D Character Animation
8 minute long character animation for sales training and conference piece (Finalist in the 'Education & Training' category AEAF 2004).
2003 "Philips - IntelliVue Patient Monitor, CBT". 3D Modeling and Animation created from engineering blueprints. All 3D artwork on the CBT that ships worldwide with their line of Intellivue monitors (Winner of the 2004 AXIEM award in 'Interactive' category).
2004 "Advanced Training for Intraoperative Monitoring". USA SBIR Government Grant - National Institutes of Health (NIH). Duties: Interactive 3D surgical simulation, 3D Anatomical modeling, storyboarding, Flash and HTML programming.
2001 "Neonate Brain Assessment Monitor". USA SBIR Government Grant - National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Duties: Industrial Design, Interface Design, 3D modeling/ animation.
1998 "Selecting and Applying EEG Electrodes". Interactive CD-ROM. USA SBIR Government Grant - National Institutes of Health (NIH). Duties: 3D modeling / animation, videography (Winner of the 1999 AXIEM award in 'Interactive' category).
1997 "Introduction to EEG Electrode Placement". Interactive CD-ROM. USA SBIR Government Grant - National Institutes of Health (NIH). Duties: 3D modeling / animation, videography (Winner of the 1998 AXIEM award in 'Interactive' category.
