Areas of Research/Teaching Expertise

200502 Construction Technology 3 (Concrete Construction)
200470 Construction Technology 4 (Steel Construction)
200472 Material Science in Construction

As a structural engineer, Dr Zhang is predominantly interested in the structural behaviour of the various structural systems and components from a designer's point of view. In recent years, his research has mainly focussed on the engineering responses of various sustainable building materials including strawbale, earth and recycled concrete and their innovative use in construction.
