Centre PhilosophyAt UNIque Kids Early Childhood Centre we maintain a strong commitment to providing quality care and education for all children. Each child is a valued member of the Unique Kids community, with their own experiences, family and cultural influences, strengths, interests and learning styles. We believe children need to feel safe, nurtured and secure within the early learning environment. Staff utilise their knowledge of child development to scaffold and invite children to investigate, explore and consolidate developing skills within an inviting, stimulating learning space.
Centre staff are committed to ongoing professional development and regularly reflect on centre programs through visual records, evaluations and portfolios.
We value partnerships with families and believe open communication builds supportive relationships between home and the centre. The benefit of care on the campus means parents can spend time with their child in timetable breaks. We invite ongoing parent participation in the centre throughout the year.
ProgramThe program is developed from the children's demonstrated interests and strengths, inviting children to investigate, explore and consolidate concepts in a stimulating learning environment. The learning environment is viewed as an active contributor to children's learning and is supported by carers who scaffold children's learning, linking learning outcomes to the NSW Curriculum Framework.
Each child has a specific primary caregiver who programs for each child, developing their skills in all areas of the framework i.e. The Thinking Child, The Communicating Child, The Creative Child, The Social Child, The Feeling Child, The Physical Child, The Spiritual and Moral Child.
Teachers build a comprehensive portfolio for each child, documenting skills development and recording special moments shared at the centre. Portfolios are available to view at anytime throughout the year and the portfolio is given at the end of each year as a special keepsake of their journey of learning at UNIque Kids.
Our school readiness program is largely incorporated into our overall program as we believe children are preparing in many ways all the time. Particular focus for school starters incorporates a social/emotional skills focus e.g. independence, identifying emotions, co-operation, negotiation, working individually and together. Language and literacy, lots of stories, exposure to various print media, drama, music, dance and mathematical/science concepts. Our popular IBM Kidsmart Computer program provides another medium for opportunities for children to engage with literacy, music, creativity, science and maths
